Samuel Ready for Action

On a somewhat amusing note, Asante Samuel took time out during the past weekend's minicamp to have a photoshoot with a photographer for NFL.com...don't get too greedy Asante, just score touchdowns please.

Eagles draft King Dunlap V

With the 270th pick overall during the 7th round, the Philadelphia Eagles selected King Dunlap V. Scouts were reportedly very impressed with the way Dunlap has oppressed his people for 27 years.
"His dedication to [an iron-fisted rule] is unmatched throughout his peers."
-Scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars

He fell to the 7th round because teams were scared of his "me-first" attitude.

Flyers getting jobbed by officials

The Flyers' series with the Montreal Canadiens is still young, but already several horrible calls have resulted in Montreal goals. The call that resulted in the goal that sent the game to overtime was ridiculous....downright bad officiating. We can only hope that as the series goes on the calls begin to even out. But if the Flyers lose this game, and I really hate doing this honestly, they will have lost to the officials and not the Montreal Canadiens.

By the way Canadiens, next time try drinking your beer instead of chucking at a player.

UPDATE: Umm...so...let's regroup and try this again shall we

Anquan Boldin demands to be traded

It is being reported by NFL.com's Adam Schefter that Anquan Boldin has requested a trade from the Arizona Cardinals. He approached head coach Ken Whisenhunt with his demands, but he was told that the Cardinals were unwilling to trade him. However, at the right price, the Cardinals and Boldin may get what they want. The cardinals have a need at cornerback since they moved the previous starting right corner Antrel Rolle to safety. Can you say Lito for Boldin?? How about an encore reappearance for the Cardinals WR trade rumors!

FLYERS WIN!

After blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Capitals, the flyers have won in OT 3-2 in Washington to take the series. 5 minutes into the overtime period Lupul collected a rebound off of Huet and smacked it home. FLYERS WIN!!

The Chase is on for MVP

Chase Utley, with his league-leading 9 home runs, is looking to become the 3rd Phillie in as many years to win the NL MVP award. His 2008 campaign is off to a torrid start and he is currently in the midst of a 5-game streak in which he has a home run. He is simply tearing the ball apart right now, and you have to wonder what he might have done last year if hadn't broken his hand for a month. Chase may very well be remembered as not only the best Phillies second baseman ever, but as one of the best second basemen of all time. Show me some second basemen with better numbers. As of right now, here are Chase's lifetime stats (6 seasons):

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG

596 2211 394 668 156 19 106 406 48 9 216 404 .302 .376 .534

For those who are counting, those are some nice per-game averages:
runs/game: 0.661
homeruns/game: 0.178
rbi/game: 0.681
hits/game: 1.12

Compare these numbers to Eddie Collins, who is said by TheBaseballPage.com to be the #1 second basemen of all time. Keep in mind Collins was a speed guy and not a power guy like Utley.
runs/game: 0.644
homeruns/game: 0.017
rbi/game: 0.460
hits/game: 1.173
